Matt Clinton and Jack O’Neill have ridden and raced together for over 15 years, sharing success in hill climbs, time trials, road races and team events. What began as mentorship - with Matt guiding a young Jack - has grown into a strong coaching partnership. Today, Jack leads Clinterval Coaching day to day, with Matt supporting as consultant coach and partner, both dedicated to helping riders of all levels achieve their goals.
In 2025, Alice O’Neill joined the team as Assistant Coach, bringing a wealth of experience as a competitive cyclist and a passion for supporting female athletes through personalised coaching.
Jack has coached for Clinterval for 7 years and now leads the coaching team. A former Category 1 racer and Midland Time Trial Champion, Jack is a 6-time BUCS medallist and placed 14th in the National Hill Climb Championships two years running. He has coached riders to top 10s in the National Hill Climb Championships. Chartered Engineer and ABCC Level 3 coach, Jack applies a data-driven, flexible approach to help riders balance performance and real life, delivering personalised coaching that drives results.
Founder of Clinterval Coaching, Matt was the 2008 National Hill Climb Champion and 2015 National Circuit Time Trial Champion and CTT Champion of Champions. He’s an 8-time National Hill Climb medallist and has podiumed multiple times with 2nd place finishes in the National 10, 25 and 50-mile Time Trial Championships. Matt has coached riders to success including Bithja Jones, National Hill Climb winner in 2021 and 2022. Now focused on a consultancy role, Matt brings championship-winning insight and proven expertise to Clinterval.
Alice joined Clinterval Coaching as Assistant Coach and is working towards her ABCC Level 3 qualification. A competitive Category 2 rider, Alice has achieved podiums in road races and time trials and has taken on major endurance events like RideLondon and La Marmotte. She has also tried hand at cyclocross and mountain biking, always keen for new challenges. Passionate about supporting female athletes, she helps riders build confidence, understand their bodies and achieve their goals.
